Warhammer 40,000 Tacticus Diary: A Week in Tacticus w/e 30th January

My Tacticus Diary is a weekly feature, reflecting on what I’ve been doing in Tacticus, achievements met and a few other bits and bobs that might have popped up! This is not the first Tacticus Diary and it will not be the last, you can find the others here.

Last Week’s Hangovers

  • Still a lot of excitement around Laviscus from me! I’m grinding through Onslaught battles with him so that I can get him up to Legendary as soon as possible and really test him out at the same level as his peers but early indications are that he’s very strong in Guild Raids but also adds some value as a finisher in Arena / Tournament Arena to boot!

Saturday 24th January 2026

  • We’ve entered the final week of The Lucius Plan and the first target hit was getting Aethana to Gold 1. That’s the last of the Aeldari for now too, will have to see if I can get most of the rest of the way through the Saim-Hann Campaign now that they’re all at Gold 1.

Sunday 25th January 2026

  • Managed to hit the goal on ranking-up a couple of characters today: Sho’syll and Sygex both reached Silver 1 and the increase in Power Level means that I advanced to Level 50!

Monday 26th January 2026

  • The final goal on The Lucius Plan was hit today with Darkstrider being ranked-up to Silver 1 – I’ll have a look at where that leaves us in the Learning section further on!
  • With the Space Wolves Faction Boost in full-flow, my Imperial Characters have taken over on Onslaught and Salvage Runs for a couple of days. The plan post-Lucius contains a couple of Space Wolves so makes sense to get the upgrade items and potentially the relic whilst there’s a chance!

Tuesday 27th January 2026

  • With the freedom to work on anything now, obviously I went straight to trying to rank-up each of the Emperor’s Children characters one more time before the start of the Perfection Personified event. Today saw Shiron reach Diamond 2. As much as I’ve enjoyed working on the other characters and it’ll (hopefully) pay off in terms of unlocking Lucius, it’s a different level of feeling of achievement when it’s one of your favourite characters that you’ve advanced further.

Wednesday 28th January 2026

  • Using spare energy from previous Raiding plans to pre-farm lots of the Emperor’s Children upgrade items has certainly paid off and managed to get Adamatar to Diamond 2 today too! Both of the noisy boys going up would give me enough Power Level increase to go up another level but I’ve removed Shiron’s Legendary Bolt Pistol to ensure that doesn’t happen until tomorrow so I can make the most of the extra Onslaught tokens in particular!

Thursday 22nd January 2026

  • Advancing to Power Level 51 meant I got a Requisition Scroll as a reward (as you do for each Power Level) today it was a lucky one and I unlocked Deathleaper! Firstly, he looks cool as hell but as a Terrifying, Deep Striking, Infiltrator he’ll also be a really important one for future Legendary Character events so he’ll definitely go onto my next plan for characters to upgrade!

Friday 23rd January 2026

  • The Space Wolves Faction Boost paid off (in part thanks to levelling up so many times and getting lots of Onslaught tokens!) and I unlocked the relic item for Baldr – Wyrdmaker’s Helm – not planning on putting the effort in for him to reach Mythic level any time soon, but handy to have should that change at any point!

Highs

  • Finally finishing The Lucius Plan, ranking-up Shiron and Adamatar, having Hascule most of the way there too, unlocking Death Leaper and earning my first relic item from a Home Screen Event (Space Wolves Faction Boost) – it’s been a week of highs and next week will very much be dominated by the Perfection Personified event that has very much dominated all of my thinking up until now! Looking forward to it!

Lows

  • I can’t even complain about bad luck on Requisition Scrolls after getting Deathleaper – just a very good week!

Learning

  • Just a high level review of where we are with The Lucius Plan complete, I’ll do a bit of a debrief after the dust settles on Perfection Personified, but the Tacticus Codex reckons I should be on target to unlock Lucius which was the main aim for this second leg – I’ll try and advance him further next time so we’ll need a plan for that – you can already see where this is going! The teams in the plan have remained the same with the exception of Calgar and Tyrith joning the Bolter team.

Upgrade Item of the Week

This week’s Upgrade Item is a: Tome of Arcane Knowledge

As we exit out of The Lucius Plan, I’m looking at a few new characters who need upgrading and the Tome of Arcane Knowledge has come up as an upgrade that a few of them need (at least Rotbone, Archimatos, and Abraxas anyway) so collecting the bits to start crafting them!

I’m currently using the Tacticus Planner and the Tacticus Codex to help with my event planning and my Raiding plan – you can see a bit more about them in my Getting Started with Tacticus post.
