Thought I should update this a little since this became two armies a while back! There are also some minis that I haven’t shared the WIP pictures for on here:

For Warhammer 40,000, my primary army were my Creations of Bile, made up of Fabius Bile, his Consortium and some former battle-brothers of his from the Emperors Children Legion (plus some additional waifs and strays from other legions and chapters that have attached themselves for a host of reasons) and then his mutant and cultist chattel. However, Emperor’s Children finally got their own Codex and I found myself with a second army! Emperor’s Children were my first love, but in their absence I gravitated to Fabius as he was a more natural fit for their Codex: Chaos Space Marines existence up to now. Suddently, with my army properly available, plastic Noise Marines and even the Daemon Primarch himself, I couldn’t let my CSM go… So the Creations of Bile have stuck around too!

I’ve always loved the Emperor’s Children – from way back when I saw the Chapter Approved rules in White Dwarf that allowed them to put Sonic Weapons on all of their tanks I was sold! I’ve always been drawn to an army that presents lots of opportunities for little conversions. I love Games Workshop minis but the only thing better than some of the sexy sculpts they put out nowadays is making something unique that’s entirely your own.

Another key moment in the genesis of this army was White Dwarf 289. In there I saw Johan Kolkjaer’s Children of Lishtaar army – an Emperors Children army that was heavily converted using loads of the older Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons minis. The effect of the colour scheme has stuck with us but more than that – it’s the fact that every mini in his army was entirely unique. I don’t know whether they all had their own story but in my head they must have!

Fabius Bile is such an awesome character and the Fabius Bile trilogy by Josh Reynolds only solidifies this. It’s amazing, honestly, if you’ve not read any of them – I can’t recommend them highly enough!

All three books cement Fabius as the ‘true’ heir to the Emperor, shining a spotlight on his relationship to the remnants of his former Legion and how he co-exists alongside the other inhabitants of the Eye. Literally every page had me making notes about what I wanted to add to this army.

Set sometime after the third book. My army doesn’t reflect the Consortium of the trilogy but here he has a ragtag band of followers and hangers on all the same. I’ll post some of the individual miniatures separately with some more details about them and I’ll keep this post up-to-date with pictures as they get built and painted.
